One of the 51 CyberBroker Talents. These excitable, multi-screened Brokers look to sell anything and everything to those in The Paradigm; buyer beware.
The self-appointed executors and upholders of law and order in The Paradigm. They recruit exclusively from Drifters, often offering new users equipment, resources, and a place to stay in exchange for a multi-cycle SContract to serve within the ranks of Alpha Command. Using their numbers and discipline to great advantage, Alpha Command is able to exert some amount of influence in a realm in which CyberBrokers are the ultimate power.
who is the real power behind alpha command, i wonder?
The Source, the legendary creator of The Paradigm. Rumor has it that all CyberBrokers derive at least some of their code from Asherah’s source code. Also used as an exclamation, e.g. “Asherah, that hurt!”.
A style for the Enforcer Model Mech. Tired of being earthbound? Weary of your destiny being in your own incapable hands? Maybe it is time to look to the stars! A type of digital construct which hosts a consciousness and acts as the primary method of interaction within the metaverse. In the Paradigm, both Brokers and Drifters have avatars.
A class of powerful weapons exclusive to members of Alpha Command. All Barrage weapons possess the Bulletstorm and Bottomless Clip traits, able to unleash an almost endless barrage of firepower from the tip of a single barrel.
A type of mech produced by Fukutsu Manufacturing. It is the largest of all of Fukutsu mech models; heavily fortified and armored, built for power, not speed.
Blocks are the primary unit of time within The Paradigm Lost (TPL) metaverse, with one block being approximately equal to one minute. Each day begins with Block 0 and corresponds to midnight GMT in real life. Time in the metaverse is typically displayed in the following formats:
1200#05 - Block 1200, Tick 05 or 8:05 pm GMT
At Block 1200 - 8pm GMT on a given day.
4 Mar 2024 1200#05 - 8:05 pm GMT on the 4th day of March in the year 2024.
04.03.2024.1200#05 8:05 pm GMT on the 4th day of March in the year 2024.
In the initial versions of the TPL metaverse, Versions Alpha and Beta, the term "Blox" was used as the primary unit of time. With the introduction of the new version, Paradigm Found, the term was changed to "Blocks".
A digital construct within the metaverse that is programmed with a basic AI. They are used to fill up environments with their repetitive routines, performing menial tasks and providing rudimentary conversations.
A device worn on the wrist which can come in all shapes and styles, usually sporting a holographic screen and interface. It's vital for many common functions within the Paradigm; used by Brokers and Drifters alike for comms, inventory management, mapping, fast-travel, and to run 3rd party applications and hacks, among other things. Most higher end bracers can be visually dismissed at will, so as not to ruin the look of a CyberBroker’s outfit.
Shortened name for a CyberBroker. It’s okay to be casual.
A style for the Enforcer Model Mech. Commonly seen at the center of Era Novum and other mega-cities, adding to the towering arcologies, or out building new waves of low-fidelity housing at the urban edges for the Drifter masses. If you want something built, do it yourself. If you want something built right, get a Buildy Bot.

A district within the Eternal Night sector of Era Novum ruled over by Cammers, scammers, and those seeking sensual delights. This dense network of seedy alleys and neon infused side streets is a psychedelic sensory overload. A world of glamour and sensuality, where tactical sensors take precedence and each club and hotel beckons with the decadent promise of unrestricted indulgence.
A manufacturing firm in The Paradigm that focuses on sturdy, industrial machinery and transports. Inventor of the popular “Speeder” transport craft, which has hundreds of various models specialized to every type of job and environment.
A style for the Enforcer Model Mech. When Cammers want to show off in the Mech Arena, or take some sick pics out in the dangerous Wilds for their viewers, CAMM-E is the way to go. There might be mechs with higher Power, Endurance, and Speed, but no one beats CAMM-E on Charisma!

doctor, you gotta tell me, do i got mechanophilia or galmatophilia?
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. Confident, sultry and luxurious, Cammers are content creators of any and every type. From the most innocent to the wickedly explicit, no matter the content, a Cammer will always find fans willing to pay any price for what they have to offer.
Short for "carbon nanomaterials". A common texture material in The Paradigm. It is highly durable and flexible, used in all sorts of objects from mech straps to clothing accessories to tarps and tents. It usually comes in matte black, as its code is resistant to even trivial alterations like color shifts.
Carbmats are also used IRL, but they tend to be referred to by their specific names, fullerene, graphene, carbon nanotubes, etc.
A type of pharma which influences stats or other character mechanics within The Paradigm. Some chems might grant flight, increase vision, or buff Soul, while others could grant resistance to plasma damage or increase an avatar’s size for a few bloxs. Do chems kids.
In Versions Alpha and Beta of The Paradigm Lost (TPL) metaverse, the term “Cirxit” was used as a measurement of time equivalent to one day. With the introduction of the new version, Paradigm Found, this term is no longer used. See “Blocks” for the definition of time in TPL moving forward.
Term for groups of IRL survivors who roam from place to place, raiding, killing, and scavenging for the resources they need to survive. Most clans fall apart pretty fast, due to infighting, the hard elements, or being wiped out by tribes or rival clans, but there are a few who have remained long enough for their infamy to spread around the world, and even into The Paradigm itself.
The CyberBroker’s 51 Talents are broken down into 6 Classes: Founders, Creators, Services, Warriors, Explorers, and Leftovers. Classes were intended to grant special powers, access, and responsibilities, but much of this was not implemented in the “Alpha Version” of the Paradigm.
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. They are tasked with repairing and upgrading damaged or degrading assets within The Paradigm to newer, more modern standards. There is no glitched pixel or flawed system that one of the Crew can’t fix given enough time and resources.
Term used to describe the small personal quarters occupied by IRL survivors, who must often contend with limited space and resources. Spice of the Sandia tribe had a coffin-room no larger than four square meters, big enough for a bunk, a rig, and not much else. Usually shortened to “coffin”, i.e “After a day in my coffin, I’m ready to jack-in to the Paradigm and stretch my legs!”
The instantaneous communication and messaging system in The Paradigm, accessed through the Bracer. Incoming transmission. Do you accept?
The TPP Core was original set up as a training and informational source for new Paradigm Entertainment Group employees. Over the many cycles since, CyberBrokers have gained access to The Core from within The Paradigm and made it their own. There is a constant flux of vandalism and repair, additions and deletions, updates and corruptions, maintenance and destruction. It may not be the pristine, corporate, organized environment it once was, but The Core is still an excellent source of training and information for those new to TPL.
A legendary weapon usable only by those with the Nun Talent. Summoned from the wielder’s holy symbol, this blade of unquenchable golden plasma is able to cut through just about anything with a swing and a prayer. It has the Vanquishing, Rending, and Energy Damage traits.

i don’t know why drifters do it, but they sure love just sitting watching the cyberracers going round and round while they sip on terrible intox bevs
In The Paradigm Lost metaverse, "Cycle" referred to a measure of time equivalent to 400 days. This term was retired following the introduction of the Paradigm Found version.
A term used to describe the devirtualization of an avatar, environment, or item within the Paradigm after it reaches 0 HP. This process is usually visually represented by a fracturing of the d-mezzed object into hundreds of tiny voxels which fade away into nothing over a few tixs. Sometimes referred to with the alternate "de-mezz" or the full "dematerialization".
When an avatar is d-mezzed, all items in their active inventory (besides mementos and other special items) are lost. Depending on the nature of the d-mezzing, usually some items and currencies are burnt, while others are dropped and can be claimed by others in the area. The avatar is then re-mezzed in a designated location after a set period of time. CyberBrokers and established Drifters are re-mezzed at their home node, while those without a home node usually find themselves returned to the starting node of the world they were d-mezzed in.
When environmental objects are d-mezzed, they usually re-mezz in the same location after a set period of time. There is a high likelihood that glitches are introduced during this d-mezz/re-mezz process, requiring the expertise of the Cleanup Crew to set things right.
When an item is d-mezzed, it is usually burnt and lost forever. Powerful items, such as Artefacts, randomly re-mezz somewhere in the Paradigm instead. Insurance policies can be purchased for more valuable items, which allow them to re-mezz in a designated location after being d-mezzed.
Version Alpha (obsolete): Avatars who were d-mezzed during Version Alpha had all items and currencies within all their wallets irrevocably burnt. This was changed in Version Beta.
A subzone within the Paradigm. It is an infinite junkyard of decaying voxels, corrupted files, and degrading code. It is where everything deleted in the Paradigm goes to slowly fade away. Filled with lots of trash and even the occasional treasure for those desperate enough to search.
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. Demons specialize in sabotage and are pros at infiltrating and infecting underlying core systems. When cornered, Demons fight with bare fanged and shap clawed ferocity before vanishing into the shadows. Rumor has it that their abilities can even sabotage Safe-Zone protocols, forcing PVP upon the innocent and unwary with an eruption of wings and talons.
A style for the Enforcer Model Mech. Go to any Paradigm party worth going to, and there is always a DJ Lux at the center, blasting the tunes and tripping the lights fantastic! Includes an automated DJ mode with 100,000 public domain songs, a Dance mode programmed with over 1,000 sick moves, and an all new FX mode that can project endless light patterns. Don’t just go to the party, be the life of it!

Those among the remnants of humanity who access The Paradigm through consciousness casting by “jacking-in” via a rig. Most Drifters come and go infrequently, with little impact or concern. But there are some who strive to make the metaverse their home, leaving their mark on the Paradigm and the CyberBrokers who dwell there.
Drifters are currently locked out of The Paradigm. Join and play the Paradigm Found game to help bring them back!
The collective term for the three rules built into the Paradigm code which impose various limits on the number of outside rig connections can exist at any given time. These rules ultimately keep the overall Drifter population within the Paradigm small, even as more and more survivors IRL seek to enter this digital paradise.
The Three Limits are:
1). Unique Rig ID Limit: Only a set number of Rigs can be registered to the Paradigm at a given time. A rig drops registration if it fails to login during any given Quarter. If there is an open registration slot, it is filled on a first come basis.
2). Concurrent Active User Limit: Only a set number of rig connections can be active at given time. This limit is about 1/10th the number of rigs that can be registered, creating long queue times for those seeking to jack-in.
3). Avatar Slot Limit: Each registered rig has a default limit of 1 Avatar slot. To create a new Avatar, an old one needs to be permanently burnt or transferred to another registered rig to free up a slot.
Almost all these limitations can be mitigated or bypassed through the expenditure of virtual currencies. For example, the highly coveted TPP VIPP (The Paradigm Project Very Important Player Pass), grants several perks such as preserved registration for up to 5 Corporate Cycles, automatic queue jumping, and 3 extra Avatar slots. Less premium passes also exist, for variable costs.
The basic, standard model of the Fukutsu mech line. Reliable and consistent, they are the most user-friendly mechs but come up lacking when it comes to speed and power. They are often found performing mundane tasks such as construction or guard duty, or being piloted by Drifters, as Enforcers are the best mech they can afford. The most common, and popular, style of this model is the ActionBot 3000.
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. They are sturdy, strong, and intimidating, Enforcers are for-hire muscle in The Paradigm. Not only does it take considerably extra effort to de-mezz an Enforcer, their talent also allows them to re-mezz faster than most, allowing them to get right back into the fray.
The largest city within The Paradigm and its de facto capital. Home to the titanic Merkle Tree, which houses many of the Paradigm’s political elite. The city is typically a Safe Zone, but there are many exceptions among its vast and sprawling streets.
An area within Era Novum that is permanently glitched out, with many of its safety and moderation settings disabled or malfunctioning. Environmental lighting within Eternal Night is stuck at the lowest levels, giving the illusion of endless night, even as a blacked out sun crosses the sky. This has made the Eternal Night the best place for all sorts of clandestine and criminal pursuits.
With the launch of Version Beta, the vast expanse of the Beta Worlds was unveiled, leading to the emergence of three Factions. Each Faction, characterized by a unique ideology and mission, seeks to harness the untapped powers of these newly uncharted realms. The three Factions are The Wayfarers Bureau, The Shepherds of Soleia, and The Winner’s Circle.
A protocol common within compounds with a large Drifter presence. It instantly cuts off all access to the Paradigm, forcing anyone who is jacked-in to come face reality. Most often used during times of IRL emergency such as fire, power failure, or raids.
Code needed to Fast-Travel within The Paradigm. Each fastcode is specific to the destination, based on a unique node address, and most codes expire after a single use.
The fastest and most expensive mode of traveling within The Paradigm that is commonly available. Practically instantaneous; anywhere to anywhere as long as you have the proper fastcode. Sometimes referred to as “FT” or simply “Traveling”.
Code name for a pervasive meme virus that infects anyone who knows about it.
A military manufacturer from before the Terminus, Fukutsu had been contracted to produce realistic mechs for The Paradigm. While the IRL Fukutsu got iced along with the rest of the world, the TPL version has become a thriving manufacturer of all things mech. They are especially known for their five classic mech models: Enforcer, Ravager, Behemoth, Lupus, and Nexus. You’re faster/harder/stronger/better with Fukutsu!
The world-wide government compact formed by Earth’s seven largest mega-corps after the Corpo Wars. Oversaw global regulation, development, and governance across designated Market Zones, but only lasted about 50 cycles before collapsing under the strain of the Terminus Events.
Within The Paradigm, any image which has audio and visual output but lacking in tactical interaction. Grams can be seen and heard, but cannot physically interact or be interacted with. Comes from the slang for “hologram”.
A metaverse based beverage company that provides most of the digital liquids within The Paradigm. While best known for their wide selection of med sodas, they manufacture and distribute a large variety of bevs, including high end alcoholic drinks that simulate intoxication for Brokers and Drifters alike, the punch flavored MegaJuice which enhances body, mind and soul, and Purity Springs water, known to be the clearest, cleanest water in all The Paradigm.
-despite its rich aroma and full body, the green stuff tastes a little weird-
Short for ‘hit points’. Everything within The Paradigm has HP and when anything (a Drifter, Cyberbroker, structure, or object) reaches 0 HP, they are d-mezzed. HP is sometimes also referred to as “Health”, “Hits”, or “Meter”.
Slang for something that has been permanently killed or otherwise taken out of action. Often used to refer to Earth after the Terminus. i.e “I could have been something if the world hadn’t gotten iced.”
A well known hack that exploits the fast-travel system within The Paradigm. When the code is implemented by a skilled Hacker, it has about a 50% chance of working as intended and sending someone to any known node, free of charge. The downside is that it also has a 50% chance of going wrong in countless, unpredictable ways. Though it almost always de-mezzes the Hacker in a combustion of white-hot fire; hence the name.
A vast labyrinth of towering universities and endless libraries, serving as archives of ancient wisdom, each edifice holding countless eras of knowledge. One of the Beta Worlds, unveiled after the initialization of Version Beta.
WARNING: For high-level avatars only.

An infamous hacker of unknown identity that enjoys mean spirited jokes and pranks, usually in the form of defacing digital spaces and vandalizing important data. They have been known to use various trollish tactics such as self-created codes with intentional errors, clues that end up being red herrings, and implantation of false or misleading information into databases.
A small, quiet, and powerful short-range pistol, favored by discrete individuals who might be getting in over their heads. It has the Concealable and Knockback traits.
A term meaning a couple thousand blocks, generally used to refer to a nebulous amount of time. I.e. “I’m not sure when I’ll be back, maybe a k-block, maybe longer.”
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers; and the most common by far. Despite being called a Talent, Leftovers have no special innate skills and so have become the jacks and jills of all trades, but masters of none.
The light on a rig that indicates its connection strength and status. A bright red light might mean a strong potential connection, but currently disconnected. While a dim green light would mean a weak but viable connection is ongoing.

A technique which alters the source code of a program or AI, completely blocking out specific memory files from being accessed by anyone. It is usually very difficult to accomplish properly, requiring great skill and tailoring of the process specifically to the target. But legend has it that the Hubur Key is able to manipulate memories with ease, not only damming them off from access, but altering them as well.
A digital construct within the metaverse that is hostile to avatars and used to provide danger and challenge to Brokers and Drifters when in some Paradigm locations. One example of a MOB is the living moss that spawns within the caves of Moss Falls; which can be harvested for fun and profit.

A direct hardline comms link into the Paradigm, without needing the use of a rig or quantum networking. Usually used only in the case of emergencies, as most P.O.S.T Boxes are not installed in areas convenient to the modern user.
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. Some of the very first denizens of the Paradigm, the Politicians started as a small group of cerebral enhanced lab chimpanzees who were wired directly into prototype rigs to test consciousness casting. The test successfully transferred the chimps into the Paradigm, but at the cost of their physical bodies and any semblance of empathy. Now the ruthless Politicians occupy the highest seats of power within the government of the Paradigm, wielding their extra voting leverage to solidify their position and fill their pockets.
A popular manufacturer of pharmas in the metaverse. Every Chemist within the Paradigm has worked for Polymeta at one point or the other, and have those sweet company-branded labcoats to prove it.
A major energy distribution conglomerate within the Paradigm. They transfer energy and data all across the metaverse, making them a prime target for hackers looking to get access to vulnerable systems.

One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. They are the planners of the landscapes and cities of The Paradigm. From their lofty towers they direct resources and decide where buildings are placed or where roads should go, treating the whole exercise like their own personal game. It is a game they usually play against each other, but those who live in these cities and travel these roads are wise to play along. Otherwise they might gain a PuzzleMaster’s attention, a dubious distinction from someone who can reorganize city blocks with a push of a button, and twist roads into an endless maze just out of spite.
Player vs Player. When a zone turns PvP in The Paradigm all weapons are active, all bets are off, and brokers and Drifters alike can be d-mezz’d - losing loot, and face.

A class of devices used by Drifters to jack into The Paradigm and other metaverses through the process of consciousness casting. These devices come in all shapes, sizes, and technological sophistication; from high-tech headbands that interface harmlessly with a Drifter’s brain, to massive full-body contraptions which require an intrusive and direct machine to brain link. These different variations might be referred to with different terms, such as “harass”, “chair”, “second skin”, or “crown”.

A shadowy and mysterious organization that has been around since the inception of The Paradigm. Their true motives are unknown, but they have attempted to gain full control of The Paradigm several times through the use of various nefarious tactics.
One of the 51 Talents of CyberBrokers. Known primarily for getting in the way and flocking things up, Sheeple have the uncanny habit of getting into places they really shouldn't. They love whatever is new, popular, and potentially dangerous; which more likely than not is anything another Sheeple is staring at. The more Sheeple staring, the more interest, and so on and so on until one day all the Sheeple are in the same place at the same time and the Paradigm collapses into a fluffy white hole.
i heard that Sheeple were originally meant for qa testing, and them flocking together is just a way to stress test nodes.
